Still Standing

“When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

“They’re still gonna have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump, and that’s a fact.”

“Where is John Wilkes Booth when you need him?”

“I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.”

“I will go and take Trump out tonight.”

“So we’re not talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

International Pageant Day

My very first boyfriend Billy (hi Billy if you’re reading this) used to call me “Beauty Queen” as a playful nickname. Little did that farm girl Sarah know she would actually become one… and of course little did Billy know he was being prophetic lol.

My Why

Winning a pageant isn’t anything I thought I’d ever do. What’s more, now that I’ve won, I don’t think I fully expected the responsibility, time, and busyness it would bring.

I don’t say that in a negative sense, but a lot more goes into it than meets the eye, in everything from frequently scheduled social media posts, to meetings with sponsors, to appearances, preparing for Nationals, etc.

IF My People

This morning Mom and I were discussing the smug pride we’ve witnessed amongst some involved with the MAGA movement, and her following comment struck the nail bluntly on the head:

“Unfortunately you can be a full-blooded patriot and still be void of God.”

André Rieu and His Johann Strauss Orchestra

I’ll never forget how enthralled my brothers and I were the first time Mom introduced us to André Rieu and his Johann Strauss orchestra many, many years ago.  It was a performance on DVD, one of his many recorded live performances, and the first of MANY of his DVDs we would come to own.

Capitol Punishment: One Year Later

A few nights ago I watched the documentary “Capitol Punishment,” which examines the events surrounding January 6th, and the days following.  It’s available for digital download, and I highly recommend everyone watch it.  You can view it here.

Coincidentally, that title is the same as my post from last year, which detailed my eyewitness testimony from that day.  What I don’t find a coincidence, however, is how precisely similar so many testimonies are of the events that day, and the events leading up to it.  Watching the interviews, it amazed me how so many of the participants claim they felt led by the Holy Spirit to attend, with many (like us) not even deciding to go until a day or two before.  We were compelled.

Unmasked

As I shared last night on Facebook, the mask ordinance for Lexington was abruptly suspended, effective immediately. At the last Town Council meeting regarding masks, the ordinance extension was based primarily on the request of a hospital official, polling 4% of the town’s population, and sanctimonious pontification about loving thy neighbor.

Mega Dittos: The Limbaugh Legacy

One of my earliest childhood memories was the sound of a guitar bass playing on the radio as I sat in the car with my mom in the carpool line, waiting to pick up my older brother Will from kindergarten.

Then, the familiar voice would emanate over the sound waves. It was a handsome voice. Slightly raspy, and the voice (I thought) of a young, fit, sandy blonde-haired man. I didn’t really understand what he was saying (I was only 4 or 5 at the time) but I knew from his delivery that he was unafraid and unashamed to say it. And that’s why I liked him.
